Many people experience anxiety because they worry too much about different problems in life. Sometimes anxiety goes away on its own, but ongoing anxiety can have a negative impact on a person’s health and daily life.
From a Christian perspective, anxiety is a burden that people carry in their hearts. The Bible teaches us to place our worries and concerns in God’s hands and trust Him completely.
Severe anxiety may have a medical cause and should never be ignored. However, some people believe that persistent anxiety can also be connected to negative spiritual influences, and that prayer can help bring comfort, peace, and strength.
Common symptoms of anxiety may include:
• Feeling nervous or restless
• Repeated negative thoughts
• Fear of bad news or loss
• Ongoing difficulty sleeping
• Trouble concentrating on daily tasks
• A rapid or pounding heartbeat
If you suffer from ongoing anxiety, you should contact a doctor as soon as possible. However, if anxiety continues despite medical treatment, you may benefit from combining your doctor’s advice with prayer and faith in God’s promises.
Remember that praying to the Lord Jesus can bring comfort, hope, and peace during times of fear, anxiety, and illness. Prayer can be offered before taking your prescribed medication or after taking it.
Whenever you feel severe anxiety, sit quietly in a peaceful place. Make the sign of the Holy Cross on your forehead, then place your hand over your heart and repeat the following Bible verse 12 times:
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
( Peter 5:7 1)
After reciting this verse, spend at least five minutes in Jesus Meditation, focusing on His love, peace, and presence. Continue this practice for seven days.
